First full day with campers. It's rest hour now. I feel like I want to write something, but not sure what.
Yesterday was awful; I wasn't able to control the kids at all and was very stressed. They woke up, and so consequently I did, too, at 5:15 AM.
As the day has progressed, it's gotten better. I think several factors are at play. Being around me has given them some respect or attachment, so my voice has more credence. Additionally, as somebody pointed out, they're going to be very rowdy on the first night from the excitement of arriving.
They're all good kids, though, it seems; it's just that they're that—kids.
Some of them are a bit of troublemakers, but some are quite sweet and nice. One grabbed my hand at one point to drag me somewhere and I must admit that I was smiling the whole time he did it.
Not sure what my focus on control is about. Probably a reaction to feeling overwhelmed?
